The basics of European Roulette are similar to those found in other variations of roulette. The bets are made for the slot in which the ball will end up. There are 37 pockets in European Roulette. The red and black alternate pockets number from 1 to 36. The European variation has a single zero, marked in green color. The pockets are arranged in a mathematical sequence, which ensures that the ball has an equal chance of ending up in the right pocket.
In comparison to the American Roulette variation, European Roulette involves a very low house advantage. This is attributed to the single zero pocket on the European wheel. The en-prison rule is unique to European Roulette. The rule states that if you bet with even-money and the ball ends up in the zero pocket, you get the option to either give away half of your bet or play the next round with the same bet.
